The Smart Agency has been hired to publicise the opening of a new gents' wedding suit hire and outfitters in Leeds.

Called The Groom, the shop is a new venture launched by Roberts Ltd, one of the city’s oldest remaining tailors.

The wedding hire and outfitters will differentiate itself from high-street hire shops by offering bespoke tailoring and matching waistcoats. The Groom opens March 1 on Roseville Road, Leeds.

The diversification into retail represents a major shift for Roberts, which is better known for producing bespoke waistcoats for individuals and staff working in hotels and restaurants.

The Smart Agency has been appointed to promote the opening of the new shop with the opportunity for ongoing marketing services as Roberts relocates its factory operation later this year.

The company’s current premises on Templar Street in Leeds city centre will make way later this year for a mixed housing and retail development, anchored by the John Lewis Partnership.

The account will be led by Smart Agency director Emma Kirkaldy, who said: "It’s a great privilege to working with Roberts, which is one of the last remaining independent tailors still operating in central Leeds. The company has been around for 40 years and its full order book shows that people and businesses still value personal service and the individuality of one-off tailored items."
